Wool is the fiber from the fleece of sheep. Wool is a completely renewable fiber resource. Every year, after shearing, sheep produce a new fleece, which can be shorn off again the following year. It is a natural, protein, multicellular, staple fiber. Early wool was a very coarse fiber. Its development into the soft, fleecy coat so familiar today is the result of long and continued selective breeding.
