Global Textile Conference Proposed to Boost Industry Collaboration

In a significant move to strengthen Rajasthan’s textile ecosystem, the state government has proposed hosting a global textile conference in Bhilwara, a city widely recognised as one of India’s major textile manufacturing centres. The announcement was made by V. Srinivas, Chief Secretary of Rajasthan, highlighting the government’s focus on research, innovation and global industry collaboration.

The proposed conference aims to bring together textile experts, manufacturers, policymakers and researchers to discuss future technologies, sustainability and global market opportunities. Such an initiative could help position Bhilwara as not only a manufacturing hub but also a knowledge centre for textile innovation. During his visit, the Chief Secretary also launched the “Viksit Bharat Gram Abhiyan,” linking local development efforts with India’s broader growth vision.

Spindle Capacity Expansion Reflects Rising Investment

Rajasthan’s textile sector is witnessing rapid industrial expansion, particularly in spinning capacity. Officials highlighted a sharp increase in spindle installations, demonstrating investor confidence and policy support. Major industrial growth highlights include:

  • Spindle capacity increased from about 60,000 to nearly 1.5 million
  • Long-term target to reach 5 million spindles
  • Rising yarn exports from Bhilwara cluster
  • Stronger textile value chain integration
  • Policy-driven industrial development initiatives
  • Focus on emerging textile clusters

During the visit, operations at Nitin Spinners Ltd were also reviewed, showcasing the role of leading textile companies in driving regional industrial growth. The expansion aligns with the state’s long-term “Viksit Rajasthan 2047” vision aimed at strengthening manufacturing competitiveness and employment generation.

Focus on Kasturi Cotton and Integrated Textile Policies

The state government is also focusing on strengthening the raw material base through increased cotton cultivation. Special attention is being given to Kasturi Cotton, which is gaining recognition for its quality and traceability. Key agricultural and policy developments include:

  • Expansion of Kasturi cotton cultivation
  • Extra-long staple cotton across 30,000 hectares in Bhilwara
  • Cotton farming across 11,000 hectares in Banswara
  • Support through Industrial Park Policy 2026
  • Implementation of Textile and Apparel Policy 2025
  • Development of integrated textile clusters like Rupaheli

These initiatives aim to create a complete textile ecosystem, from fibre cultivation to finished products, improving both domestic manufacturing strength and export potential. Industry observers believe that Rajasthan’s policy-driven textile strategy could significantly boost employment, investment and global competitiveness in the coming years.
